Some sporadic info building up to opening day
By: Chris |Sporting Life has done a preview for Ligue 1 and even though Caen is only briefly mentioned, they do make an interesting relegation point. You can view the article here
Dragons that Caen have to slay (At least one is literal):
They say that Caen, along with Metz and Strasbourg will have an interesting time fighting with [...]
Stade Malherbe Caen 3 UNFP 0
By: Chris |So Caen wasn’t really tested. Issam Jemaa scored in the 6th minute and it just went downhill from there. (Or uphill, I should say).
Benjamin Nivet scored in the 48th and Julien Toudic scored his first goal of the summer, in the 76th.
Caen finishes the Summer friendlies with back-to-back wins and their final record is 2 [...]
Caen prepares to face off against the “Beer League All-Stars”
By: Chris |Caen plays their last friendly of the summer this Saturday against the UNFP. No, they are not playing the National Union of Popular Forces, a former Moroccan political group.
(By the way, the Moroccan Coat of Arms would be a sweet badge for a low-league English Club. Something for a team in between Bury and Huddersfield.)
But [...]
And on the 26th of July, God said, “Let There Be Caen”
By: Chris |Caen was presented to the world and to 4,000 supporters today, truly kicking off their 2007-08 campaign.
Sponsors Celeos and Samro were also presented and were officially made the sponsors for the club.
You can read about it here.
The ceremony took place in Stade Michel D’Ornano.
The most badass team photo ever? I think so.
Giant Killers: SM Caen upsets Stade Rennais!
By: Chris |3-1. Holy crap. I know this is still the preseason, but we actually beat someone. A goal for Jemaa right after halftime (48′) and scoring one minute and ten minutes after Rennes evened the score up in the 76′.
Sebastien Mazure cleaned up for Les Malherbistes, getting the winner less than three minutes from time. [...]

He played for the SO Rosny-sous-Bois youth system from ‘92-’96. He played at INF Clairefontaine; the main training facility for the young French prospects. He also played for FC Red Star before [...]
Wins? I dont need no wins. Draws are what I like….
By: Chris |……is what Les Malherbistes seem to be telling us after drawing a match today against Lorient, 2-2.
Issam Jemaa and Benjamin Nivet scored for Caen, so it is nice to get those two into the mix before the season starts.
The draws arent really THAT bad. Everyone is getting time and hey, we are scoring goals. That [...]
Lemaitre signs an extension….Yay!…..Gouffran 50/50 on staying…..Ugh.
By: Chris |According to Caen’s Website as well as Caen.maville.com, Reynald Lemaitre has signed a new three-year deal.
Reading the article, Lemaitre really seems genuinely excited to be here. I wish Gouffran was more like him….
Apparently Yoan Gouffran isnt sure if he wants to stay. He says here that he is unsure of his future, but that he [...]
Caen’s Website interviews Svensson
By: Chris |Swedish International, former Glasgow Rangers and new defender for Les Malherbistes, Karl Svensson, has been interviewed by Caen’s website. You can read the full article by clicking here (in French). I am going to put an English translation here, because you won’t find it anywhere else. My French understanding still isnt great (using Babelfish for [...]
