No thank you, I think I’ll just wear my undershirt.

I have been waiting for Caen to make their new kits available for sale since before the season started. The kits are very nice, even though they are a bit cluttered in sponsorship. Finally, I check and they are selling them…….for 65€ . 65 €?!?!?!?!?!? Thats $88.63 USD. That, with how much it costs to [...]

Recent Tragic World Soccer Developments/Caen’s “Rain Date”

By: Chris | Comments 1 Comment

First off, and more importantly than any match I could ever talk about, two soccer players died this week. By now, everyone has heard the tragic story of Antonio Puerta of Sevilla and has probably seen the painful video. Another soccer player, Zambian International Chaswe Nsofwa died during practice with his team Hapoel Beersheva, an [...]

Who will be Caen’s next mascot?

By: Chris | Comments 3 Comments

Stade Malherbe de Caen is compiling a vote for their new mascot. The voting goes until the end of September and you have a choice between three mascots.
The “Destrier,” a French War Horse
A Viking. (Caen’s old logo was a Viking warship.)
Francois de Malherbe, a poet who was born in Caen which the [...]

Why I haven’t posted in forever/Why Caen really is playing atrocious footy….

By: Chris | Comments 1 Comment

I wholeheartedly apologize to any of the regular readers of this fine, fine blog. I have not posted in what seems like an eternity. I just finished up an internship and moved to my dorm, so the past couple weeks have been a no go for most things. This is just an occurrance and I [...]

Oh Champions League….

By: Chris | Comments 3 Comments

I said I would say more regarding Nancy, but I lied. There isn’t much more to say. We gave up an early goal and could not come back. It was frustrating, but on to the new news…..

Caen’s game tomorrow against Toulouse will not occur because Toulouse has to play Liverpool in Champions League Qualifying. So [...]

Caen-Nancy

By: Chris | Comments 1 Comment

Watching the match right now. Nothing much has happened. Compan, Lemaitre and Samson are some notable bench warmers at the moment.
….Oh God. We are down 1-0. Kick was diagonal to the right side of the net, just out of a diving Plante’s reach. Not even 10 minutes in.
Final 1-0. We couldn’t get it done. More [...]

News, Updates and the weekend

By: Chris | Comments 2 Comments

Karl Svensson, Swedish wonder kid said that though he is happy the way Caen played against Nice, we probably could have blown it.

He told caen.maville.com “We took too many risks in the second half. But this match is behind us. We are playing Nancy next.”
Everyone that I have heard from has seemed to come to [...]

On top of the world

By: Chris | Comments 2 Comments

A couple days have passed since Caen won the first match of the season and it feels good. From what the simulcast showed me, the team played very well and it will definitely be a treat to play Nancy this coming weekend. A possible 6 points from the first 2 games? If I presented that [...]

Caen-Nice RESULTS IN THIS POST

By: Chris | Comments 3 Comments

I will keep people updated on the match as I watch the simulcast.
If other teams score, I will probably do that too.
Caen 0 - 0 Nice
6′ Plante makes nice save bottom left corner
Its almost the 40th minute and not much has occurred.
Right before halftime, Nice had a free kick right outside the box but it [...]

No love from Goal.com

By: Chris | Comments 3 Comments

Goal.com did a week 1/season preview today and I can tell you, they do not like Les Malherbistes.
“Caen and Nice square off in what could be a dress rehearsal for a bitter relegation struggle. “Malherbe”, though, have something to prove: they’ve improved their squad nicely over the summer and will hope to consolidate.”
Ouch, Goal.com…..Ouch.
Fox Soccer [...]
