Caen 2 Sochaux 2

By: Chris | September 1st, 2007

Well, Caen gets the point but proves that they cannot hold onto leads if their life depended on it.

Eluchans gets a goal in the 32′ and Proment puts us ahead again in the 65′, but a penalty shot by Birsa in the 73′ makes a 2-2 draw.

Caen really, really needs to learn how to finish games up. A team that is hurting like Sochaux is not one to lose to, especially when you have the lead twice. Hengbart came in two minutes before the yellow that cost the goal that drew the game. This is especially frustrating because he came in to relieve Proment.

Caen has taken four points from five games and is currently in 16th place in Ligue 1.

Gouffran was not in the lineup today, but we are safe with him, as he is a member of Caen until at least the January transfer window. PSG showed a large interest in him and Arsenal’s interest never went away, but he is still a member of Caen.

I will post some videos of the goals once they are available.

Also, congratulations to Vincent Planté, who was named by Caen’s website as the Player of the Month for August.
