Caen prepares to face off against the “Beer League All-Stars”
By: Chris | July 27th, 2007
Caen plays their last friendly of the summer this Saturday against the UNFP. No, they are not playing the National Union of Popular Forces, a former Moroccan political group.
(By the way, the Moroccan Coat of Arms would be a sweet badge for a low-league English Club. Something for a team in between Bury and Huddersfield.)

But back to the odd squad…
The squad is a mix of ragtag (but from what I hear decent) group of players that do not have contracts but from what I hear, regularly do get signed. I guess it’s just turnstiles for people to get into Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. The Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels “SHOULD” be an easy opponent. Regardless it will be a nice final warmup to a season that seems to be coming, oh so quickly.
It would be kind of cool to see a group of kids playing Caen that are about at the talent level of the pickup games I play on weeknights, but I have a feeling that these guys are a little better than that. I also think I would not be able to hold a shutout for all that long against Caen.
